Nissan Design Vet Campbell to Retire

Bruce Campbell joined Nissan in 1980.

Bruce Campbell joined Nissan in 1980. And in that time, he was chief designer for vehicles including the Nissan Gobi Concept Truck, the Hardbody pickup, Pulsar NX, Maxima, Xterra, 370Z. . . . .

But on April 1—and evidentially this is not an April Fool’s joke—Campbell will be retiring from Nissan Design America (NDA). The vice president of Design for NDA will, however, become an advisor to Nissan’s Global Design Division.

We’ve had the opportunity to get to know Campbell during his tenure at NDA and can say without reservation that he is one of the most imaginative and approachable designers in the business.

Campbell will be replaced by Alfonso Albaisa, who joined NDA in 1988, who is currently vice president of Design at Nissan Design Europe.
