The smart Parade

Regardless of whether you’d actually drive one or not, you’ve got to admit that visually, the smart fortwo is a charming little vehicle.

Regardless of whether you’d actually drive one or not, you’ve got to admit that visually, the smart fortwo is a charming little vehicle. It is toy-like in appearance, and who doesn’t like a toy?

The good people of Antwerp might have gotten a little toy-sick this past weekend, however, as 1,594 smart fans from 27 countries descended on that fair city to celebrate all things smart.

Presumably things got really annoying for some Antwerpians on Saturday, when a world record was set: the world’s longest smart parade.

s

There were 1,114 smarts in a line snaking through the streets of the Belgian city.

Given that the length of a smart fortwo is 106.1 in., or 8.8 ft., this means that there was a line of cars 1.9 miles long.

However, it could have been worse. Imagine if another Daimler brand (albeit one that is going away) held an event in Antwerp, a gathering of Maybach owners. The Maybach 62 is 242.7 in., or 20.225 ft., long.

If there was a parade of 1,114 Maybachs rolling through the streets of Antwerp, that would have been a line 4.3 miles long.
