Small But Sturdy

Although the smart fortwo is a rather diminutive vehicle—it has a 73.5-in. wheelbase, is 106.1-in. long, 69-in. wide (including the side mirrors, mind you), and 60.71-in. high—it turns out that it is a robust little thing, at least as regards its roof strength.   According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the fortwo has the strongest roof among the micro- and mini-car segment.  You can see an IIHS crush in action here.
