Ed Welburn Delivers Howard Univ. Commencement Address

Welburn, who will be retiring from GM this year, will go down in the annals of automotive design as one of the best, having led the corporation to a state of design leadership despite the fact that its monumental financial problems of the 2008-2009 period might have caused some to become more restrained in their approach to sheet metal.

Not Welburn and his team.

It is worth noting that President Barack Obama delivered a commencement address to all of the Howard University grads on Saturday prior to Welburn’s address to the College of Fine Arts grads. As Welburn studied sculpture and product design at Howard, clearly he, like the president, knew his stuff.

And what’s more, even though the president is a hard act to follow, presumably Welburn did just fine.
