Seriously Fun Stamps

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) yesterday came out with a series of 20 Forever stamps that commemorate the 50th anniversary of. . .Hot Wheels.

That’s right: those cars that many a person in the auto industry has grown up with.

(Although they may be toys, Chevrolet even created a Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary Camaro for big kids.)

Yes, real full-size Hot Wheels cars from Chevy

According to USPS Marketing vp Steve Monteith, who was the dedicating official for the presentation of the stamps, “Today, we make history as the Postal Service and our partners at Mattel are celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hot Wheels with these dynamic stamps showcasing the iconic toys that were a part of my childhood and that of my children.”

Ten different cars are depicted. There are two stamps for each. Which means each pane has a total of 20 Hot Wheels images.

The vehicles depicted range from 1971’s Rocket-Bye-Baby to 2018’s Mach Speeder.

William J. Gicker was the project’s art director. Greg Breeding designed the stamps.

Let’s face it: If you still use terrestrial mail (1) Forever stamps are a great deal and (2) why would you want to send something that doesn’t have an automotive aspect to it?
