Kia, in 2009, brought the Forte to market in the U.S. It was the replacement for the Spectra. Which had been the biggest-selling car in the company’s lineup. The Forte is a compelling compact sedan and has done quite well in the U.S. market.

Over in Korea, home base for Kia and where the Forte is built, the car is known as the “Cerato.” Overall, the Cerato/Forte is doing exceedingly well. According to Kia, the car, on a global basis, is the best-seller in the company’s portfolio. In 2011, approximately 445,000 units were delivered.

Later this year, the Korean car buyer will see the name Cerato give way to a new one: “K3.”

In the first quarter of 2013, the car will be rolled out in other markets. As the Forte.

Regardless of what it is called, based on these sketches, the car looks great.
