Nissan to Add 900 Jobs in Tennessee

Nissan Motor Co. says it will hire 900 hourly workers at its assembly plant in Smyrna, Tenn., to prepare for the launch of the next-generation Rogue crossover vehicle this autumn.

The company hired about 800 employees at the Smyrna factory late last year as it added a third shift there.

The Nissan facility is taking on production of a number of models previously built only in Japan, including the Nissan Leaf electric car and Infiniti JX large crossover in 2012, the Rogue this year and Nissan Murano crossover in late 2014. The plant also makes the Altima midsize and Maxima large sedans and Pathfinder SUV.
