Honda Motor Co. is recalling 143,100 of its 2007-2008 Fit minicars to again repair a power window switch in the driver’s door that could get wet, short circuit, overheat and perhaps catch fire.

The same cars were recalled for the same flaw in 2010. But the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the previous repair—adding a cover around the switch—may not have cured the problem.

Under the new campaign, cars with damaged switches will have the component replaced with a redesigned unit immediately. Owners of vehicles with undamaged switches will be asked to return to their dealers this autumn to have the part replaced with a new one anyway.
