While this is still a concept, according to Manuel Poyant, development manager, TRW Steering Wheel Systems and Driver Airbags, “Our customers have shown interest in the concept and the introduction of this technology could be possible within the next five years.”

We’d like to suggest that the real market is not the Boomers but Gen Y, who would be somewhat more comfortable with this advanced tech. After all, one can readily imagine someone getting into a car equipped with the TRW system and wondering what the heck happened to their steering wheel.
