As the month comes to a close, the sales numbers for the industry as a whole and for particular companies are going to be of acute interest. Certainly there will be some people interested in whether Toyota has weathered the recall storm. Others will be focused on whether Ford’s astonishing first quarter earnings will be further reflected in market gains. And there will be other considerations, as well.  Clearly, sales have an effect on everything from supplier part inventories to future product planning.

Here’s an interesting chart from the folks at TrueCar. What they’ve done is examine such things as previous sales, day of month, incentive availability, inventory, and negotiation flexibility, and come up with the “largest potential discount” that buyers could conceivably get for different categories of cars and trucks. They’re not suggesting that you can go into your local dealer and snag one of these vehicles with that highlighted percentage off; this is what they’ve calculated using inputs from across the U.S. (They also offer a TrueCar price report for vehicles that they think can help buyers get a better price when they bring it in during their car shopping.)

Looks like Ford is offering quite a number of deals, so if you’re interested, you’d better get to it.
