That is Kelly Nalley, a Spanish teacher at Fork Shoals School in Greenville County, South Carolina, who has been named 2010 South Carolina Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Nalley is sitting in the 2010 Alpine White BMW X6 xDrive35i presented to her by BMW Manufacturing, the premier sponsor of the Teacher of the Year Program in the state.

BMW Manufacturing is based in Greer, SC, which is in both Greenville and Spartanburg counties. It is the global producer of both the BMW X5 and X6 vehicles. Which means that those products are made nowhere else.

Mrs. Nalley—who also garnered a number of awards for her pedagogical prowess—will be driving in the X6 for a year.

As BMW spokesperson Max Metcalf said of the South Carolina Teacher of the Year program, “BMW is proud to have been a sponsor of this program for over 10 years. AT BMW, we are motivated by our shared commitment to performance, passion and pride. It occurs to me that teachers all across this state. . .are driven by those same commitments—continued performance and a deep passion and pride for the students they are teaching.”
