Plenty of Polos

While we’re not exactly sure bout the importance of the number, not being numerologists, but apparently 11,111,111 has some sort of significance, although probably not of the 12-12-12 nature.   Today Volkswagen marked the production of the 11,111,111th Polo—recently named European Car of the Year.

Today Volkswagen marked the production of the 11,111,111th Polo—recently named European Car of the Year. That particular vehicle was produced not in Germany, but at the VW plant in Pune, India.

The Pune plant, opened in 2009, is said to be one of the most modern in the VW system. It is an integrated facility where operations from stamping to final assembly are performed. It has an annual capacity of 110,000 vehicles. In addition to the Polo, the Škoda Fabia is produced in Pune.
