MSO Carbon Series LT: What Would Bruce Wayne Drive?

June 22, 2016

This car—the McLaren MSO [McLaren Special Operations] Carbon Series LT—appears as though it is something that Bruce Wayne would drive when he’s not wearing a costume, and chances are the billionaire playboy is one of the 25 lucky people on the planet who is going to have the opportunity to own one of these carbon-fiber intensive cars (were he, of course, a real person):

The car is based on the already fairly carbon-fiber intensive 675LT Spider, but in this instance, they’ve added 40% more of the lightweight material to the body of the car.

On the “conventional” 675LT spider, the front bumper, splitter, end plates, front under body, side skirts, side intakes, lower side intakes, rear bodyside lower, rear fenders, rear deck, rear bumper, diffuser and “Longtail” airbrake (that’s where the “LT” in the nomenclature comes from) are carbon fiber.

For the MSO Carbon Series LT the roof (electrically retractable), tonneau, A-pillars, hood, rear deck, side blades, front and rear wings, and fuel filler flap are also carbon fiber.

The car is powered by a 3.8-liter twin turbo V8 that is used on the McLaren Coupe, but which has undergone significant modifications, as in 50% of its parts being replaced, as in new turbos, changes to the head and exhaust manifold designs, new camshaft, new connecting rods, and a faster fuel pump.

Speaking of fast, the car goes from 0 to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds and it hits 124 mph in 8.1 seconds. Top speed is 203 mph.

Of course, only Bruce Wayne and his pals are likely ever to experience that.

Deliveries are scheduled before the end of 2016. Oh, and the 25 have already been sold—and were sold before the first one left the factory.
