Last week we reported that LG Group and General Motors signed an agreement that will bring the two companies closer together in the development of electric vehicles (EVs) as well as the components related to them.

But it has been brought to our attention that the day before that announcement, LG Electronics USA announced that it has selected the 2012 Ford Focus as its office vehicle for its “LG Brand Ambassador” team, which apparently consists of people who roll around to consumer electronics and appliance stores where they deal with salespeople and consumers and whomever else they may encounter on their travels.

LG is getting a fleet of 200 Focus hatches.

“We selected the Focus based on its striking design, fuel economy and functional flexibility,” said James Fishler, senior vice president, Go-to-Market Operations, LG Electronics USA. He added, “Its SYNC hands-free technology also enables us to communicate with our team in a safe way.”

The cars are being wrapped with the company’s logo and other graphics (which don’t exactly accentuate the “striking design” of the vehicle, but they’re buying them, so. . .).

Seems like LG is certainly working hard in, around and for the auto industry.
