Loctite, which is well known for its adhesives, sponsors snocross champion Levi LaVallee. LaVallee holds the world’s record for the longest jump on a snowmobile.

He jumped 361 feet. Hours after setting the record, LaVallee was practicing for the 2010 New Year’s Eve Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. event, and things went awry.

He broke ribs. Cracked his pelvis. Cracked vertebrae. Punctured his lungs.

Tonight, the 29-year-old is (well, assuming that things don’t go pear-shaped between the time this is being written and approximately 11 pm EST tonight (on ESPN)) participating in the 2011 Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. Event. during which he will attempt to jump over 300 feet of water in the Embarcadero Marina Park in San Diego and best his record while doing so.

We’re hoping for the best. While Loctite is used for, among other things, orthopedic and prosthetic assemblies, chances are LaVallee would prefer the use of the products for threadlocking and suchlike on his snowmobile.

Update: In case you are wondering, LaVallee wasn't merely successful on New Years Eve, he was epic.  He jumped his snowmobile 412 feet, 6 inches.  In San Diego.  Where it doesn't snow.  Congratulations!
