Ferrari, Autodesk Design Contest

Although we don’t often write about student contests, we do want to give a shout out to the students at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit who have managed to make the finals of the Ferrari World Design Contest.

Although we don’t often write about student contests, we do want to give a shout out to the students at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit who have managed to make the finals of the Ferrari World Design Contest.

Starting with a roster of 50 international design schools, the number is now down to seven, with CCS in the company of IED and IAAD in Turin, Italy; London Royal College of Art; the European Design Institute Barcelona; Hongik University in Seoul, South Korea; and DSK Supinfocom in Pune, India.

The contest is being sponsored by the Maranello-based vehicle manufacturer with the support of its design partner, Autodesk.

Ferrari 458 Italia

The finalists must submit models—1:4-scale physical and virtual 3D models in Autodesk Alias—of the “Ferrari of the future, a pure hypercar. . . .a supercar, extreme regarding its architecture and its functional aspects: hyper-light and hyper-fast, hyper-ecologic and hyper-technological.”

The winners will be announced July 19.

The first and second place teams will get a hyper-opportunity: an internship at Ferrari's Centro Stile, lead by Flavio Manzoni.

(And, yes, there will be some software prizes, too.)
