Chrysler: Another $165-million for Sterling Heights

“Today marks another milestone in the rags-to-riches story of the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant.

“Today marks another milestone in the rags-to-riches story of the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant. A plant that was slated to close nearly two years ago will now be a state-of-the-art facility that will play an integral role in the success of this company by building the next generation of all-new vehicles,” said Scott Garberding, Senior Vice President and Head of Manufacturing, Chrysler Group LLC, yesterday.

Garberding was talking about the $165-million that the company is investing in a new one-million-square-foot body shop. The money will be spent on both equipment and construction of the facility.

Last December Chrysler announced it would be spending $850-million in a paint shop for the plant.

Sterling Heights Assembly is where the Chrysler 200 is built.

Looks like “Imported from Detroit” is paying off.
