BMW Bike: Black on Black on Black

The BMW R 1200 GS, which was launched earlier this year with an upgrade in performance (thanks to such things as two overhead camshafts per cylinder; camshafts in a radial arrangement) so that the output from the 1,170-cc Boxer engine is up 5% to 110 hp and there is an increase in maximum engine speed from 8,000 to 8,500 rpm will soon become available in a special edition.

Come January 2011 there will be the R 1200 GS Triple Black.

Not only will the body be painted Sapphire Black Metallic, but BMW Motorrad has finished some additional components in keeping with this dark theme. Specifically:

  • Black cross spoke wheels
  • Asphalt grey metallic swing arm, rear frame, and valve covers
  • Black front fork and engine
  • Black seat

Sort of seems like the kind of bike the Dark Knight would ride.
